Week 2: Picks
Thursday, Sept. 15 @ 8:25pm ET
There are multiple big name players on both sides that are questionable to play. Rex Ryan will have some motivation to beat his old team, the Jets. However, a lot of the Bills offense goes through LeSean McCoy (especially with Sammy Watkins banged up) and the Jets defensive front is top notch. This will be a low scoring affair but I think the Jets defense will be too much for the Bills and Ryan Fitzpatrick and the passing offense should be able to have some success vs. the Bills.
Pick: Jets (-1)
Proj. Score: Jets 17, Bills 10
Dallas is too inexperienced to keep up with this underrated Redskins team. Dallas doesn’t have the defense to stop Kirk Cousins and the Redskins offense and the Cowboys rookies will likely turn the ball over a few times on offense. Redskins win by double digits.
Pick: Redskins (+3)
Proj. Score: Redskins 27, Cowboys 17
The 49ers worked the Rams last week in a surprising upset. Things won’t get any easier this week against the Seahawks with or without Russell Wilson. The Seahawks are just too strong of a team to not win this game easily, especially with the Rams looking so horrible vs. the Rams.
Pick: Seahawks (-6)
Proj. Score: Seahawks 24, Rams 10
David Johnson and the Cardinals should bounce back vs. the Buccaneers at home this week. The Buccaneers look to be a surprise team this year but I also think that the Cardinals will perform closer to expectations in this contest, especially the defense. I’ll take the Cardinals to cover.
Pick: Cardinals (-6.5)
Proj. Score: Cardinals 30, Buccaneers 21
The Colts have not done a good job of surrounding Andrew Luck with talent and despite his ability to carry the Colts on his back, the Broncos defense will be too much for the Colts to handle. In addition, the Colts have serious injury issues on defense and the Broncos should be able to score just enough to win.
Pick: Colts (+6)
Proj. Score: Broncos 17, Colts 14
I am in the camp that the Vikings will remain a good team without Teddy Bridgewater and will have Sam Bradford at quarterback this week. Their defense is strong and Adrian Peterson should bounce back this week. The Green Bay secondary is strong but the Vikings and AP should be able to pull out a close victory at home.
Pick: Vikings (+2)
Proj. Score: Vikings 24, Packers 21
The Bears have an improved defense and looked pretty good against the Texans last week. The Eagles and Carson Wentz looked good last week but are in for a season of growing pains. The Bears defense will give the Eagles inexperienced offense trouble and will win this game easily.
Pick: Bears (-3.5)
Proj. Score: Bears 21, Eagles 10
